The clients of this property saw a good thing when the original old home burnt down many years ago, Dual occupancy was a light bulb moment and they set to work on a modern and spacious design.
Building dual occupancy allows the owners to maximise the potential of one block of land.
Set at the entrance of one of the most sort after streets in the Shoalhaven, these two homes are a mirror image of each other and boast a contemporary feel to maximise the space.
The clients and architects brought us in early to work along side them to come up with a beach house that the clients loved and could afford, it was to include major alterations and additions.
The build required the entire main area of the home to be dismantled and extended to enhance the living area and provide a huge outdoor space, the front facade of the property was remodelled, and disabled access ramps were installed to the front door, the garage door was hidden with the installation of bifold doors that blended seamlessly with the cladding adjacent.
Timber decks and a large free standing cabana was incorporated in the build, to allow for an abundant of space to enjoy the amazing outlook over the coastline and the owners own beach below.
The brief was straight, the clients wanted to upgrade their existing beach house that had access the beach from their back yard and provide a warm and inviting space, they wanted a home that they could walk in straight from the beach, sand and all and not affect the finishes, they did not want a huge home, like all the other locals were doing, low key was the aim.
Moffat builders converted the old, tired fibro shack into an amazing little beach house, it was still a small little cladded home, but it was bursting at the seam with character and nice details.
We advised the clients along the way to change the design of the ceiling layout in the main living area to incorporated exposed timber trusses that we made on site and to vault the entire ceiling, this design changed the feeling of the space to the next level.
Timber windows throughout the home added a soft relaxed feel, timber whitewashed floorboards and timber lining boards to the walls was a wonderful detail to the cosy beach house.
A coastal red wood slab was milled in our joinery shop and installed as a breakfast bar with bifold doors over, this was a BBQ table to the outside and a great place to read the paper on the inside, the red coloured timber was a great way to add a bit of warmth to the room with colour.
